In 2014 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from UNSW, majoring in Textiles. The rich and varied medium of textiles satisfies my tactile approach to understanding and responding to the world around me. Collecting, collating, journalling, sampling, stitching, mark making, weaving, dyeing and printing are all techniques that are pivotal to my work. My practice has a clear focus on regaining possession of the female figure not just as an individual but as a vessel of motherhood and myth. The textile works I make attempt an analysis of the stratification that reside within women as they transition from female individual womanhood into female individual motherhood. Like many artists I look inwards at my own experiences, my own internal language and my place in the world to inspire my works concerned with the body as vessel.
